POP PERFORMANCE MASTERCLASS (New)

POP PERFORMANCE MASTERCLASS (Max Enrollment: 6 per class)
This class combines vocal technique training with performance coaching for a well-rounded approach to singing contemporary commercial music. Participants will be divided by age group and have the opportunity to finesse two songs over two masterclass sessions a week apart. The class fee includes both weeks.

During the first session, participants will bring a pop song of their choice to the masterclass and sing for their fellow participants and Amanda, who will offer feedback on how to take the song to the next level from a technical and performance perspective. At the end of the first session, participants will be assigned a new song specially selected by Amanda for their unique voice. They will have one week to finesse that song on their own using tools and tips provided in the class. In the second session, participants will sing their assigned song and again receive feedback from Amanda. This class helps students have a greater understanding of their instrument and hone techniques to craft a dynamic pop performance.

There are only 6 participants in each masterclass. Participants must attend both 2-hour masterclasses.

SONGWRITING 101

SONGWRITING 101 (Max Enrollment: 8 per class)
This unique course offers an introduction to songwriting for pop music including basic song structure, common chord progressions, tools for developing lyrics and melodies, information about music royalties, and an overview of digital music distribution channels.

Participants work together as a writing team to create an original song guided by Amanda Kind. A demo for the song is then produced by Steve Lehmann. The idea is to be part of a songwriting team, so participants will not record the vocal for their song themselves; instead a vocalist from outside the group will be chosen to be the “artist” to record the demo of the song they’ve written. The final demo is shared on the KW Glee social media channels so participants have the opportunity to share their work publicly.
