Class Participation Waiver and Code of Conduct

For the safety and well-being of all participants, there must be a safe space created to engage in online learning. The following class participation release, waiver of liability, and code of conduct are agreed to upon registering for any course.

This is a legally-binding Consent Form and Release of Liability made voluntarily. By registering for classes, you certify that you are over the age of 18 or the parent or legal guardian of the minors registered for the class.

You agree that the participant(s) named shall comply with all of the following terms, rules, and written and verbal instructions of the class teaching staff as conditions for participation in any class, including the behaviour outlined in the code of conduct. By registering for any class, you expressly agree on behalf of yourself and/or the participant(s) name that you understand and agree to comply with these conditions of participation. You understand that failure to adhere to these conditions may result in removal from the class at the sole discretion of the instructor.

You, on behalf of yourself and the participant(s) named, our heirs, assigns, representatives, and next of kin, agree to hold harmless, release, waive and indemnify all instructors, and any associated members, employees, agents, successors and assigns from:
(A) Any and all injuries, illness, medical conditions, claims, liabilities, damages, expenses or judgments from participation in any and all online classes and/or activities.
(B) Any defense, cost or expense arising out of any and all claims, injuries, liabilities or damages arising out of or related to participation in any and all of our programming, as set forth, including attorney fees.

RULES
1) The participant is responsible for ensuring that they have a computer and stable internet service in order to participate in live Zoom classes. The instructor is not responsible for internet issues from the participant end.
2) Arrive on time by logging in at least 1 minute prior to the class beginning. You will be in the virtual waiting room and will be let into the online Zoom class by the instructor. Classes are on a strict schedule and lateness causes loss of instructional time that impacts other participants. Please do not be late.
3) Guests are not permitted. Family members and friends are not allowed in the class except by written exception to accommodate special needs. Parents may be in the room with their children but they may not be on camera.
4) Please turn off phone and other devices and put them away prior to entering the online class unless they are used for a class-related purpose.
5) You may be given access to a Google Drive or DropBox folder in order to view instructional materials. You will require a PDF viewer to read instructional materials. The contents of the Google Drive and DropBox Folder are confidential and may only be used in relation to this course.
6) The chat feature may be disabled during online classes. If it is enabled for educational purposes, the engagement of this feature is to remain solely focused on the class content; participation in personal conversations or online bullying will result in the immediate removal of a student. The instructor cannot possibly monitor this feature at all times while teaching and will not be held responsible for the misconduct of students.
7) As classes are online, the supervision of any minor participants is the responsibility of the Parent/Guardian.

CODE OF CONDUCT
In order to ensure that this is a wonderful experience for everyone, the following rules of conduct must be observed by each person.
1) Respect all participants and treat others with kindness and compassion.
2) Content of the class and discussions in the classroom are conducted in a safe space. Please respect the privacy of other students and do not share any photos of the Zoom classroom unless all participants agree to the photo in advance.
3) Disciplinary action may be imposed if a participant commits or attempts to commit any act of misconduct during the class including but not limited to:

  • Bullying or racism in any format;
  • Conduct which constitutes harassment or abuse of any kind that threatens the mental well‐being, health or safety of any individual.

Consequences include, but are not limited to, removal from the class, notifying parents, and removal from the program for the safety and well‐being of other participants. Disciplinary action may also be imposed if a student commits any acts of misconduct toward another student or teacher in the program outside of class time but related to the class.

You, the participant and/or the parent/guardian, understand and agree to abide by this Participation Release, Waiver of Liability and Code of Conduct. You acknowledge that you are fully aware of the consequences resulting from the violation of any of the guidelines and agree to comply with the aforementioned conditions of participation.
